How to Mute Zoom

This guide will walk you through the steps required to mute yourself during a Zoom meeting. Follow each step carefully to ensure successful muting and maintain audio control in your meeting.

  1. Join or Start a Zoom Meeting – Open the Zoom app or browser and enter any ongoing meeting.

  2. Locate the Mute Button – At the bottom-left of the Zoom window, you’ll see a microphone icon.

  3. Click to Mute Yourself – Tap the microphone icon once to mute your audio. It will show a red line when muted.

  4. Use Keyboard Shortcut – Press Alt + A (Windows) or Command + Shift + A (Mac) to quickly mute/unmute.

  5. Auto-Mute When Joining – Go to Settings > Audio → Tick “Mute my mic when joining a meeting” for automatic muting.

  6. Mute Others as Host – If you're the host:

    • Click “Participants”

    • Click “Mute All” at the bottom to mute everyone at once.

  7. Temporarily Unmute (Push to Talk) – Hold the Spacebar to temporarily unmute yourself while muted (works on desktop).

  8. Done – Aapka mic mute hai. No background noise, no distractions — Zoom meeting sorted.
