How to Go Back a Bullet Point
in Google Docs
Go back to a previous bullet point in your Google Docs document with just a few keyboard shortcuts or using the indent tool. This demo helps you easily navigate and adjust your list structure.
Open Google Docs – Go to docs.google.com and open the document with the bullet points.
Select the Bullet Point – Click on the bullet point or line that you want to move back.
Use the Keyboard Shortcut –
On Windows, press Shift + Tab to move the bullet point back to the previous level.
On Mac, press Shift + Tab as well.
Observe the Indentation – After pressing Shift + Tab, the bullet point will move back, and the indentation will decrease.
Check for Sub Bullet Points – If the bullet point has sub points, it will move out of the sublist and align back with the main bullet list.
Manual Adjustment (Optional) – If you prefer, you can also click Format > Align & Indent > Indentation options to manually adjust the indent size.
Adjust Bullet Style (Optional) – If you want to change the bullet style (dots, checkmarks, etc.), click the dropdown arrow next to the bullet icon to select a different style.
Done – Your bullet point is now moved back to its original position, keeping the document organized and clear.
