How to Zoom Out on
Google Docs
This guide will walk you through the steps required to zoom out in Google Docs, making it easier to view more content on your screen at once. Follow the instructions below to adjust your zoom settings.
Open Google Docs – Go to docs.google.com and open your document.
Locate the Zoom Option – On the top toolbar, you'll see a dropdown (usually says 100% by default).
Click the Zoom Dropdown – Tap on the percentage (e.g., 100%) to open zoom options.
Select a Lower Percentage –
Choose 90%, 75%, or 50% depending on how much you want to zoom out
The document will instantly resize
Use Keyboard Shortcut (Optional) –
Press Ctrl + – (minus) on Windows
Press Cmd + – (minus) on Mac
This zooms out your browser view, not just Docs
Use Browser Zoom Controls –
Click the three-dot menu in your browser (top-right)
Go to Zoom and click the minus (–) to zoom out
Use Trackpad or Mouse Scroll –
Hold Ctrl/Cmd and scroll down to zoom out quickly
Done – Your Google Doc is now zoomed out and easier to view overall.
