How to Annotate on Zoom
This guide will walk you through the process of using the annotation feature during a Zoom meeting. Follow the steps below to learn how to share your screen, access the annotation tools, and navigate to the whiteboard for collaborative writing or drawing.
Start or Join a Zoom Meeting – Open the Zoom app and either host or join a meeting.
Start Screen Sharing –
Click “Share Screen” in the bottom toolbar
Choose what you want to share (desktop, window, whiteboard, etc.)
Annotation Toolbar Appears – Once you start sharing, the Annotation toolbar will appear on top of the screen.
Click “Annotate” – Tap the “Annotate” button on the floating toolbar to open annotation tools.
Use Drawing Tools –
Use Pen, Highlighter, Shapes, Stamp, Text tools to mark or draw on screen
Use Arrow to point things out
Erase or Undo –
Use the Eraser, Undo, or Clear All options to manage annotations easily
Allow Others to Annotate (Optional) –
Click “More” > “Enable Annotation for Others” if you want participants to write too
Stop Annotation –
Click “More” > “Disable Annotation” or stop screen sharing to end annotation.
