How to Start a Zoom Meeting

Follow these steps to start a Zoom meeting easily. This guide will walk you through navigating your Zoom account, accessing the meetings section, and starting a meeting.

  1. Open Zoom App or Website – Launch the Zoom Desktop App or go to zoom.us and sign in to your account.

  2. Click on “New Meeting” – From the home screen, click the “New Meeting” button to instantly start a meeting.

  3. Enable Video/Audio (Optional) – Choose whether you want to start the meeting with video and audio on or off.

  4. Choose Meeting Settings

    • If needed, choose “Enable Waiting Room” or “Mute participants upon entry” before starting.

  5. Invite Participants – Click “Participants” > “Invite” to send out the meeting link via email, WhatsApp, or copy the link directly.

  6. Manage the Meeting – As host, you can:

    • Mute/unmute participants

    • Enable/disable screen sharing

    • Use Breakout Rooms, Whiteboard, or other features

  7. Share Your Screen (Optional) – Click “Share Screen” if you want to present or show something during the meeting.

  8. End or Leave Meeting – When done, click “End” > “End Meeting for All” to close the session.
