How to Remove Section Breaks
in Google Docs
Remove section breaks in Google Docs to create a smooth, uninterrupted flow of content throughout your document. This guide explains how to identify and remove unnecessary section breaks with ease.
Open Your Document – Go to docs.google.com and open the document where the section break exists.
Switch to Editing Mode – Make sure you’re in Editing mode (not Suggesting or Viewing) to make changes.
Show Section Breaks – Scroll through your document and look for a big gap between pages. Section breaks can cause unusual spacing.
Place Your Cursor Before the Break – Click just before the empty space or break line that separates two sections.
Use Delete/Backspace –
On Windows, press the Delete key.
On Mac, press the Backspace key.
This will remove the section break and join the two parts.
Check Page Setup Settings – After removing the break, click “Format > Page setup” to ensure the margins and orientation are consistent throughout the doc.
Repeat for Other Breaks – Scroll and repeat the process if your document has multiple section breaks.
Done – Your Google Doc is now free of unwanted section breaks, and the content flows smoothly across pages!
