How to Make Sub Bullet Points
in Google Docs
Make sub-bullet points in your Google Docs lists for a clearer, more structured presentation of information. Learn how to create nested bullet points to improve readability and organization.
Open Google Docs – Head over to docs.google.com and open or create a document where you want to add bullet points.
Insert a Bullet List – Click on “Format” > “Bullets & numbering” > “Bulleted list”, or use the bullet icon in the toolbar to start your main bullet list.
Type Your First Bullet Point – Write your main point and press Enter to go to the next bullet.
Create a Sub Bullet –
On Windows: Press Tab after pressing Enter.
On Mac: Press Tab key as well.
This indents the bullet and creates a sub bullet point.
Type the Sub Point – Now write your sub bullet content under the main point.
Go Back to Main Bullet –
Press Shift + Tab to outdent and return to the main bullet level.
Customize Bullet Style (Optional) –
Click the dropdown next to the bullet icon to choose different bullet styles, including checkmarks, arrows, and dots.
Done – Your document now has clean main and sub bullet points, perfect for organizing thoughts, notes, or presentations clearly.
