How to Insert a Vertical Line in
Google Docs
Inserting a vertical line in your Google Docs document can help with organization or to separate content. This guide will show you how to use the drawing tool or tables to add vertical lines effectively.
Open Google Docs – Go to docs.google.com and open the document where you want to insert the vertical line.
Click on “Insert” – From the top menu, click on “Insert” to open the dropdown options.
Select “Drawing” – Hover over “Drawing” and then choose “+ New” from the side menu. This will open the drawing canvas.
Add a Line – On the drawing canvas, click on the Line tool in the toolbar (it looks like a diagonal line).
Choose “Line” or “Arrow” – Select Line from the options, then draw a vertical line by holding Shift while dragging to keep the line straight.
Adjust the Line – Use the handles around the line to adjust its length or position. You can also change the line color and thickness by using the options in the toolbar.
Save and Insert – Once your vertical line looks good, click “Save and Close” to insert it into the document.
Done – Your vertical line is now inserted into the document. You can click on it and select “Edit” anytime to modify or resize it.
