How to Make a Gradient
in Figma

This guide will help you create a beautiful gradient in Figma. Follow the steps below to learn how to add and customize gradients to your design elements.

  1. Select the Shape or Layer – Click on the object (rectangle, circle, text box, etc.) where you want to apply the gradient.

  2. Open the Fill Settings – In the right-hand panel under the Design tab, find the Fill section and click the color box.

  3. Change Fill Type to Gradient – In the color picker popup:

    • Click the dropdown (usually says Solid) and choose a gradient type:

      • Linear

      • Radial

      • Angular

      • Diamond

  4. Edit Gradient Stops – Click on the color stops in the gradient bar. You can:

    • Change Colors by clicking each stop and selecting a new color.

    • Add Stops by clicking anywhere on the gradient bar.

    • Delete Stops by dragging them off the bar.

  5. Adjust the Angle/Direction – Click and drag the gradient handle on the canvas to reposition or rotate the gradient.

  6. Done – Your gradient is applied and customizable anytime.
