  1. Open your Google Docs document.

  2. Click on the "Insert" menu and select "Drawing" > "New."

  3. In the drawing window, click on the "Image" icon to upload an image from your computer, Google Drive, or by URL.

  4. Once the image is uploaded, resize it to fit the drawing canvas.

  5. Click on "Actions" in the drawing toolbar and select "Order" > "Send to back" to make the image the background.

  6. Click "Save and Close" to insert the image as the background into your document.

  7. You can adjust the position of the image in the document by clicking and dragging it.
